Experience the Life of an Allegany Fire Lookout
On Sundays and certain holidays, a tour guide from the Friends of Allegany State Park or the Allegany State Park Historical Society welcomes all park patrons at the foot of the fire tower, allowing full access to the structure and providing the history of the tower, the life of a fire lookouts, and a general knowledge of other points of interest in the park.
Patrons will be able to hike up to and scale the last standing fire tower in Allegany State Park, of which there were once several, observing Allegany from a unique and historically authentic point of view.
Patrons must hike from the Summit Ski Hut parking lot where a wooden gate marks the trailhead.
When: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturdays/Certain Holidays; unavailable during inclement weather
