When We Operate

The Friends of Allegany State Park meets every month for six months, beginning with I Love my Park Day in May and ending on National Public Lands Day in September. Projects and programs are conducted throughout the year in partnership with Allegany State Park management and staff.

What We Do

Activities include guided tours, campground cleanups, cabin maintenance and renovation, picnic table assembly, trail maintenance, and much more. Quality-of-life improvements, such as cabin curtains and coat hangers, are installed by Friends volunteers to make your stay in Allegany comfortable and enjoyable while maintaining an authentic camping experience for you and your family.

How You Can Help

You need not join a Friends work weekend to give back to Allegany State Park. Collect litter on your next hike, rebuild a firepit circle and, of course, always leave your campsite better than you found it! For those who want to give back through the Friends of Allegany, consider the following:
